I have been researching my family history for more than 11 years now. Whilst I was born in London England, my father was born in Greenwich Village, St James, Barbados and my mother was born in Fano, Pesaro, Italy.
I am now conducting a surname study of every person that ever had the surname Cumberbatch or its variant spellings. This study is registered with the Guild of One-Name Studies. The primary aim of this study is to build family histories and to tell stories of the many remarkable people who had the surname Cumberbatch.
I am a member of the Society of Genealogists, a Committee member of the Guild of One-Name Studies and an "Ancestry Advocate".
I volunteer to help others with their research. Each year I volunteer to attend the annual "Who Do You Think You Are? Live!" show where I help visitors to the Society of Genealogists' "Ask The Experts" and I specialise in Caribbean research and slave ancestry. I also help out on the Ancestry stand at the show1.
